Barbara Fischkin is a novelist, nonfiction author and international journalist, whose talent as an instructor of WRITING and JOURNALISM is well known throughout the country's business, academic and cultural communities. A Huffington Post blogger, internet radio host and promiment autism advocate, she is often in demand to speak at national conferences, as well as lead small group sessions in which students have fun while learning the tools of practical writing. Ms. Fischkin has taught journalism at NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, where she created a writing course for international students. She will be teaching this semester at HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY, in one of the country's fastest growing journalism programs - and has earned kudos for developing a new journalism program at Adelphi University, where she also revived the student newspaper. As an active member of PEN, a by-nomination-only, international writers organization, she co-chairs and moderates the PEN WRITERS ROUNDTABLE, which regularly gives new writers an opportunity to meet in small groups with some of the country's most prominent wordsmiths. Ms. Fischkin's books, two novels and a work of narrative nonfiction have earned praise from the NATIONAL MEDIA - and from some of the nation's bestselling and most beloved authors. The titles, all available at the MVP store, are Muddy Cup: A Dominican Family Comes of Age in A New America, Exclusive and Confidential Sources. As a journalist, and a recipient of the Livingston Award for INTERNATIONAL REPORTING she has covered stories on four continents. Ms. Fischkin, lives in Long Beach, New York with her husband Jim Mulvaney, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor, now a private investigator, and their two sons.
