Profile
Bette Jonas Freedson, LICSW, LCSW, CGP
Bette Jonas Freedson is an experienced trainer of Stress Management and a certified group psychotherapist. A former secondary school English teacher and a graduate of Boston University School of Social Work, Bette combines teaching expertise, clinical knowledge, and group facilitation skills to offer seminars that are substantive, useful, engaging and fun.
Bettes "Relax and Learn Seminars" are a repertoire of stress management trainings that specialize in demonstrating the power of the mind/body connection to improve decision making; increase effective coping, reduce time wasted in conflict; boost morale and productivity; and reduce absenteeism at work.
Bette combines the practical with the humorous to deliver presentations that address the impact of mind and emotions on stress and coping, emphasizing the importance of relaxation and clear thinking. Participants leave Bettes seminars re-energized for work and fortified with understandable concepts and applicable tools that they can really use.
The underlying belief in all Bettes seminars is that when people feel they can cope effectively in their work; their personal lives are enriched. When workers feel more energized and empowered in life, they bring this energy into the workplace, thereby increasing productivity and positive morale; while reducing failure to perform.
One of Bette’s popular seminars is “Staying in One Peace/Coping With Stressful and Difficult Situations.” This two part seminar includes “The ABCD’s of Stress,” which is the “Tip Sheet on Stress” on the NASW website. Here Bette offers the fundamentals of Stress Management combined with fascination and fun of learning how to use the inner intuitive mind to improve coping efficacy.
Besides extensive background conducting ongoing private stress management groups, Bettes presentations include the Attorney General’s Office of Massachusetts, The Northeast Society for Group Psychotherapy, The New England Resident Services Coordinators Annual Conference (2007), The Dana Farber Cancer Center, Boston City Hospital, Accenture (in its previous incarnation as Anderson Consulting) as well as a variety of mental health service agencies.
In addition to stress management presentations, Bette is available for seminars that address couples and relationship issues, parenting issues, particularly those issues pertaining to single parent families; and issues pertaining to emotional wellness in the workplace or personal sphere. Bette is a writer whose essays have appeared in newspapers in Southern Maine. She is currently authoring a book for single mothers.
