Profile
David Alan Johnson grew up in South Texas. After graduating High School he joined the Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. His job desription included words such as rifleman, demolitions, light weapons expert, anti-tank warfare, and prisoner handling and interogation. After serving, Mr. Johnson went to Pan American University majoring in Business and History. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, he became a professional pilot flying passengers and cargo in Mexico and Central America. In 1986 he started working as a Private Military Contractor for Oliver North supplying the Contras in their war against the Sandanistas. During the next 25 years Mr. Johnson worked on contract for the Department of Defense, Department of State, several oil company intelligence units, the DEA, and some other customers. Since 1996 he flew surveillance aircraft collecting imagery and radio signals. His titles have changed over the years: Line Pilot, Site Manager, Design Team Leader, Business Owner, and Foreign Pilot Instructor. He has worked mostly Latin America and the Caribbean along with two tours in Africa. During this time, Mr. Johnson stood at the nexus between business and government, seeing how intelligence is gathered and used in operations on both low intensity warfare and the struggle for economic dominance. In 2002 he wrote his first book, How to Get a Job in the War on Terror. Two adventure novels and two more non-fiction books followed. His newest book, The Competitive Intelligence Manual for Small Business will be out in October, 2011. He now specializes in teaching the precepts of Government Intelligence to Corporations and Individuals. For businesses, these concepts translate into protecting company secrets, closing the strategic sale, and early warning systems for management. Courses for Executives include Managing Your Competitive Intelligence Unit, Competitive Analysis For Sales, Security and Intelligence in Foreign Operations, and War Gaming. Mr. Johnson also coaches individuals in the patterns taught in Government Intelligence to manage and upgrade their careers.
