Profile
Dr Mark Hertzberg has a powerfully direct approach to improving communication and overall effectiveness in the office as well as in regular life. He started with people looking for help with job interviews, small public speaking appearances and even blind dates. Eventually his techniques for politely but firmly taking control of situations, reading details of interactions as they happen and seeing how things fit into the big picture proved themselves at all levels of the business world. The Prison Years Dr Hertzberg was working as a doctor, including twenty years seeing patients on Rikers Island, while still working as an onstage performer and a writer. He began teaching others to perform and eventually taught and directed performing troupes. He branched out from writing his own act to writing for others, and his work has been heard on such venues as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Share The Power Many performers have given communication and business seminars in which they relay some show biz clichés on how to handle public speaking duties. Although it goes without saying that a polished professional performer gives a more entertaining seminar, it doesn’t always contain anything of substance. Dr Hertzberg was not trying to give seminars. He was trying to use the communication skills of a writer, performer and director to improve some of the worst communication of all: Health Care. As a scientist he looked at the accumulated knowledge and wisdom used in many different media and "reverse engineered" them. For example, the knowledge of the subtle workings in human interactions necessary to make a scene come to life is a powerful tool when those interactions occur in real life. The process took decades, but the result is worth the wait. Get a New Attitude Calmly and confidently thrive in a business world where the only constant is change. "The key is not some mystical secret to handling everything on demand, its knowing how to set up the right conditions for insight, or even cleverness to hit, and being able to confidently keep gliding along until that Eureka moment."
