 Walking Across America

The United States spans some 3,500 miles from coast to coast, and by August 2009, Jon Leonetti will have made the journey, on foot. As the host of a weekly radio show, in Des Moines, Iowa, Jon knows the power the media can have in shaping peoples minds and hearts. Jon realized that something big needed to be done to capture the attention of the MTV generation—those too distracted by the barrage of messages from today’s media to focus on the greatness they are called to live for. After taking control of his physical health, losing 110 pounds, Jon and a friend set off to walk across the U.S.A., stopping to speak at churches, schools and youth gatherings along the way. The cause: raising awareness, asking the young and old of America to turn their hearts and minds away from the empty promises of ego, fame, and greed that are broadcast through too many television and radio stations today, and to turn them towards Jesus Christ.

The need for prayer is the central theme of his walk across America and by partnering with a film production company, Jon is capturing his adventure in a documentary. Jon has learned much from the incredible experiences of remarkable people that he meets on the road. Whether they were prostitutes or preachers, homeless or successful businessmen, Jon has listened to the many stories of those “walking” through life. Jon and his friend have named their endeavor “Souly Walking,” and have been featured in newspapers, online articles, radio shows and other media coverage all across the country. He is currently writing a book about the stories and experiences he has collected on this walk, weaving it together with the 'walk' we all take through everyday life.

"Astounding," "remarkable," and "inspiring" are just a few words people have used to describe this journey that he has put together, as well as the many experiences he has encountered a long the way. Jon is a highly motivational, energetic, and humorous speaker that will capture the attention of any audience with any keynote, breakout or seminar he delivers.  Through his presentations Jon will call all people to renew their christian identity, while inspiring others to do the same.  With the countless stories from his walk across America, coupled with his keen insight on the difficulties, struggles and joys we all face through everyday life, Jon has realized that the vision for greatness is within our reach.  A vision that no longer views life within the confines of emptiness and despair. But a vision now that leads us to the full understanding of 'who we truly are' and 'who we were created to be'.
