Profile
With awareness, change becomes possible. Lack of confidence, lack of motivation, habitual conflict, burnout. While corporate or agency success depends on business skills and expertise, it also increasingly depends on an awareness and understanding of psychology and the driving forces behind human attitudes and behavior. Psychotherapist Dr. Peter M Bernstein brings a unique and invaluable combination of professional experience to his speaking engagements, seminars and workshops. Peter began his multi-facetted career as a successful stock broker for Edwards & Hanley, moved into management and ownership of large-scale construction projects in New Jersey, served in the United States Army Infantry, worked in jails and probation programs in San Jose, California, interned in a psychiatric hospital, and more recently raised cattle and farmed organic produce on sixty acres in Sonoma County, California. But Peter’s greatest passion and calling for almost forty years has been to help hurting people, using his unique and personal approach to psychotherapy. The culmination of Peter’s life work has resulted in his founding of the Bernstein Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy, where individuals, couples, and families can resolve emotional and physical pain and trauma. Peter’s years and depth of experience in helping people achieve lasting life change enable him to provide practical insight into the personnel challenges of both the corporate business world and the service agency milieu. Peter has always measured his own success by the ability of his patients to use what they learn about themselves in therapy to transform their lives. Years spent leading a broad variety of therapeutic groups makes Peter’s seminars and other speaking engagements highly effective. He enjoys the challenge and stimulation of relating to a broad variety of people - from teenagers, to police officers, to corporate managers, to the elderly and disabled. He works closely with every organization he speaks to, creating a customized presentation that meets the individual needs and budget for each client. “This seminar was great for me. Dr. Bernstein presented his information at just the right pace, allowing me to grow and open up about who I am. I would describe the seminar as a great chance to learn and I gained new insights for me about me.” Case Manager “Dr. Bernstein made the workshop interesting. His explanations and answers were very thorough and made the material easy to understand and learn. I was inspired.” Addiction Counselor “Dr. Bernstein is a man of integrity and has put together a great team at the Bernstein Institute. Thank you, Peter, for sharing so much of you with me.” Group Counselor Is it really possible to avoid burnout? Are there truly any new approaches to handling stress? Can leadership be taught, or is it an art? Can one person motivate another person? Dr. Peter Bernstein brings first-hand experience of both the business world and government agency settings to teaching, consulting, and the practice of psychotherapy. He applies the wealth of his life’s work to helping people grow, change, and lead satisfying and productive lives. He understands the personal and emotional issues that can limit people from achieving their full potential. Peter is uniquely qualified to help your organization with the challenges you face now.
