Biography:

When did you start using Office? Kathy Jacobs, Microsoft MVP in PowerPoint and OneNote has been using Office since its earliest days. She started out using Word for newsletters, letters, books, and other documents in the late 1980's. She added PowerPoint and Excel to her areas of expertise in the early 1990's. She has been an active beta tester for Office since the 2002 release, and has been working with Office 2007 for many months.

Kathy specializes in helping people from all backgrounds and all walks of life learn to use Office to make their lives easier. As a PowerPoint and OneNote consultant, trainer, and writer, she has written about Office topics for her own site (www.OnPPT.com), Office On-Line, IndeZine, and the PowerPoint FAQ. She blogs regularly at Vitamin CH, a LockerGnome blog.

As a computer coach, Kathy helps her clients understand how to use their computers to save time and effort. She explains, demonstrates, and helps you through the actions you need to know to best use your computer.

She presents regularly on a variety of subjects at the Phoenix PC User Group, where she is currently Vice President. She has been actively involved in PPT Live (the PowerPoint conference for users) since its inception. She presented to the user groups of the Arizona Association of Computer Clubs (AZACC) in December of 2006 on TechSmith's SnagIt and again in February of 2007 on Microsoft Office 2007.

Kathy enjoys working "Ask the Expert" booths and has answered questions at Microsoft booths on many occasions, including the Office 2007 and Vista launch in Phoenix and the 2007 Computer Using Educators (CUE) conference in Palm Springs.

Kathy is the author of three Office books:

  • Unleash the Power of OneNote (co-author)
  • Excel 2007 - The L Line (due out in May 2007)

In addition, she is the creator of Keystone learning's OneNote 2003 training DVD.

Customer Reviews

Customer Reviews:

I’ve known Kathy Jacobs for over 4 years.  I met her at a conference where she was speaking and teaching people to use PowerPoint.

She’s always willing to give a helping hand, even in the 11th hour.  Kathy will not only help you out, but she’ll also teach you in the process.  I learn something new from Kathy every time I talk with her (which is often).

Kathy is great just as great training on a one to one basis or speaking to large groups.

Kathy has made some of the most popular screencasts on my blog.  These are great examples of Kathy’s personality and how she can teach anyone.  You can view the screencasts here:

Kathy is the perfect blend of teacher, professional speaker, techie, writer and friend. She’s well rounded. Any organization would be lucky to have her.

- Betsy Weber, TechSmith Evangalist

As usual with Kathy, her presentation was wonderful. She was on time and ready to go. Her presentation was fun, enjoyable, and very informative.  She shared the new Microsoft programs with us. This subject was one we were all very interested in, and Kathy was succinct and to the point. It was fascinating for all levels of our computer club members.

Kathy presented a dynamite program on MS Office 2007.  She is a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and energetic presenter and held the members attention easily.  The clarity of her presentation was exceptional and easily grasped by our members.  Let's have her again!

- AZACC Club responses

Your presentation of Office 2007 was very impressive. I (a lot of other members) would like to run out and buy the product right now instead of later!  ...I am really impressed with the new features of Office and I think that your presentation had a lot to do with that impression.

 - Patti Camp, Vice-President - Vistoso Computer Club
