How many networking events do you attend?

How many of those meetings turn into business for you?

What can you do to help yourself build your business?

Certainly showing up is important, so is having a short pithy pitch, that draws attention to those who should be your clients “your people”. But what about how you dress for these events?
Since we make assumptions about you based on how you dress, then you will likely have to “dress up” as you “move up”. If you want to draw attention to yourself then resist being too casual, worn, untidy, having out-of-date clothing and hair style. Go for a professional look, that has an edge of flash. I find that great accessories are a terrific way to draw attention to you, and leave the impression of success and confidence. Rethink and update your hair and make up and get current. Remember, the higher you are on the food-chain of success, the more your dress and accessories matter. At a recent networking event I saw business coach who helped people with their business development. She was wearing a beautiful suit but she was devoid of make-up and her hair was just frightfully out of date and unflattering. In this case, it wouldn’t have mattered what her credentials and skills were, or how much she spent on that suit. Can you trust someone who cannot put themselves together, to put your business together? Not really. It doesn’t seem fair and in a way it is not fair. How you look matters. My clients tell me about nailing deals, finding new clients, raising their income and increasing their confidence because they addressed the issue of the way they dress and how they look. There are too many opportunities for mistakes and there’s too much riding on your appearance. You are your " Visual Business Card"!
