Sick of giving presentations where your audience isn't involved or even paying attention? Ready to take your presentations non-linear? Join me Tuesday, August 14, 2007 for a live webinar on non-linear presentations. The official title of the webinar is Step Outside the Boundary of Time: Create Presentations That Go With the Flow and you can sign up for it by clicking that link. There is a cost for attending, but I think you will find it well worth your time.

Why? Because in one hour you will get some of my top tips for presenting materials in a manner that forces your audience to be involved in the presentation. Involvement will increase audience attention and information retention. By setting up your presentations so that the audience decides where you will be going, you keep the audience centered on the presentation content. In addition, by allowing the audience to determine the orderof information, you ensure that your presentations will be audience targeted, less boring and more memorable.

As an example of non-linear presenting, let's look at the structure of my presentation for Tuesday. I have   5 main topics I want to present during the hour. Those topics are:

  • Mapping content
  • Creating menu slides
  • Creating detail slides
  • Creating links and custom show
  • Presenting non-linearly

I can present this information in just about any order desired. Because I am giving the talk for a recording on Tuesday, I will work through the steps from top to bottom - allowing those who follow the presentation audio later to understand exactly how I create a non-linear presentation.

On the other hand, when  I give this talk live, I can target how much time I spend on any of the 5 topics to what my audience wants to learn about. I can change the order of the information without affecting what I need to say. By setting up my presentation in a flexible manner, I allow a live audience to determine what gets emphasized and what gets glossed over. I still provide the same content, since I control what I say, but I provide the information in a way the audience will be best able to hear it and retain it.

Not only do I get a better handle on what I am presenting by designing for non-linear presentation, I also build in the very information needed to PR the webinar. The five sections of the presentation provide the five main points you will walk away with. What's hidden in that list are the details on what you will learn:

  • How I created this presentation and how you can adjust your presentations in the same manner
  • How to create menu slides that work - using shapes, design elements, and masters
  • How to express ideas without obviously using bullet points
  • How hyperlinks and customs shows can save you time and hassles
  • How to use your keyboard and links to wow your audience

Interested? Join me on Tuesday! Or (Blatant plug coming): Bring me to your place - either live or electronically to show you how to do non-linear presentations. The one hour webinar is just the start of the training. I can provide anywhere from one hour to 3 days of training on non-linear presentations. Contact MVP Seminars  to bring me in!
